Honey bees use Propolis to seal their hives and to protect it and maintain sterility. Propolis has been used by man for thousands of years as a healing agent both internally and externally. Honey bees collect resin from certain trees and take this back to their hives where they mix with bees wax and enzymes to produce Propolis. Propolis consists of 55% resinous compounds and balsams, 30% beeswax, 10% aromatic oils, 5% bee pollen, flavonoids, amino acids, B vitamins and antibiotic substances.
